Does coffee make your heart race? Does this cause your anxiety to spin out of control? It could be because coffee might just be bad for you, if you drink too much.

Overindulging in coffee can put you at risk for cardiovascular disease.

Drinking more than 400 milligrams of caffeine daily on most days of the week can harm the heart.

Researchers recruited 100 healthy individuals between 18 and 45 for random sampling and measure their blood pressure and pulse, and collected data on sociodemographics and daily caffeine intake.

There were 92 people who completed the study and 19.6% consumed more than 400 milligrams of caffeine daily, which equals four to five cups of coffee. In the study, daily consumption of more than 600 milligrams of caffeine had a direct connection with elevated heart rate (100 beats per minute) and blood pressure (greater than 140/90 mm Hg) after five minutes of rest following a three-minute step test. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration advises adults to consume no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine daily.

So like they say, everything is good in moderation
