School worker Vera Liddell has been sentenced to nine years in jail after stealing $1.5 million in chicken wings.
Prosecutors say the food was intended for students during the height of Covid. Liddell reportedly began her heist in July of 2020 and was discovered when a business manager noticed food costs at her school were $300,000 over budget. She would buy large amounts of food, use a van to pick it up, but never delivered the poultry to the school. Liddell was charged with theft and operating a criminal enterprise, and pleaded guilty.
