The total monthly average cost is $1,591 in the Equality State. North Dakota is the second-highest at $840 per month. Energy is cheapest in New Mexico, where the average citizen can expect to pay $376 a month. Thanks to swamp coolers.
Other relatively cheaper states include Arizona, Texas, California, and Kansas. The WalletHub analysis took electricity, natural gas, motor fuel, and home heating oil prices into consideration.
