Coffee beans have become 22% more costly in the past three years, which means your morning cup has likely gotten more expensive, too.
CashNetUSA scanned 21,000 menus in the country to calculate the average cost of a cup of coffee because you know, you NEED it. Maine is the most affordable state, with the average cup costing just $2.60. In South Dakota, the most expensive state, a coffee costs $3.79 on average.
When it comes to affordability, or the cost of an average cup of coffee compared to the state’s hourly wage, Massachusetts is the most affordable state. Mississippi is the least affordable, as a cup of coffee will eat up just over 18% of your hourly wage.
