Websites, apps, they all need passwords, and you might want to think about changing some that you have had forever. A lot of us go for simple ones that are easy to remember. But it turns out, this also makes it easy for hackers to figure out, raising the risk of our sensitive information being compromised.
“To stay safe online, you need secure passwords. The more unique a password, the harder it will be for others to break it,” explains privacy expert Jason Wise. “In short, you need to avoid the most common passwords and the most obvious ones.”
He advises against using your date of birth, the names of people close to you, sports teams, cities or food, as these are extremely common passwords that are easy to guess. So what are the most common passwords for 2024?
