These Are Things You Never Do On A Dating App

Dating apps are normal now. They’ve been around for over a decade and chances are, you know at least one couple that’s ended up together after meeting on an app. I think we all do right?

There’s some etiquette when it comes to dating apps and ways to navigate them properly. Especially if you’re using dating apps to really find something serious and aren’t just using it for fun, there are five things you should make sure you never do.

  1. Don’t post group shots. The fewer group shots you have, the better. You don’t want someone playing the “which one are they” game. Chances are, they’ll get frustrated, give up, swipe left, and move on.
  2. Don’t be boring. Don’t just start a convo with “Hey.” Don’t respond with prompts on your profile with one-word answers. Make sure your bio’s filled out, and throw some wit into there, too.
  3. Don’t lie. Not even about your height and especially not about your age. Just don’t do it. Also, don’t pretend to be somewhere you’re not. You’ll end up matching with someone who’s not your type and who’s a better fit for someone else.
  4. Leave Instagram out of it. By having your Insta in your bio, you’re making it too easy for them – they can see all the pics of you, where you hang out, who your fam is, etc. without even speaking first!
  5. No screenshots. Don’t take screenshots of someone’s profile on a dating app or of your messages. It’s one thing to send it to your bestie to get their opinion. It’s another to take one and post it online.
