Christina Applegate recently set the record straight on plastic surgery she's had done amid assumptions made about her physical appearance since announcing her MS diagnosis in June of 2021.
The Sweetest Thing standout got candid about the only plastic surgery she's ever had in the latest episode of iHeartRadio podcast, MeSsy with Christina Applegate & Jamie-Lynn Sigler, and it all started when she was just 27 years old.
"At 27 years old, I was on a show, and the one of the producers—very famous people who did a very famous show as well—said, 'Hey, we're having trouble lighting under your eyes. Your bags under your eyes are so big.'"
The star joked that the bags under her eyes were passed down by her father and that it was simply a "heredity thing." The producer of the show urged Applegate to get plastic surgery to remove the bags, and against her better judgement, she did.
"At 27 years old. I had the only plastic surgery I've ever had was to remove the bags under my eyes. The things people just plant, these seeds they plant into your head."
The Anchorman actress has been very open about physical changes she's endured as she learns to navigate life with a debilitating autoimmune disease and dispel harsh criticism from haters on the internet. Following an appearance at the Critics Choice Awards in January, Applegate highlighted a comment someone on X made about alleged "bad plastic surgery" that's contributed to her changing appearance, to which the 52-year-old replied:
"Sooooo I made the unfortunate decision to look at some comments on an article from People mag about me and my kids at the CCA.Of course I told her that it wasn’t nice. This was her reply. What is wrong with people. By the way, I laughed."
In June, Applegate reflected on three years since announcing her ongoing battle with MS and revealed that she was in a depression, despite her best efforts to banish negativity that she herself was "tired of."
"I am in a depression right now, which I don't think I've felt for years. Like a real, f*** it all, like real depression where it's kind of scaring me too a little bit because it feels really fatalistic."
