102.9 NOW has partnered with the North Texas Food Bank to host a Virtual Food Drive!
No one should face hunger alone. And in this challenging year, it is affecting our neighbors like never before. Right now, gifts to the holiday campaign are doubled thanks to generous $200,000 match from Sammons Enterprises and the Beaumont Foundation of America. We have always known that the face of hunger looks a lot like you and me. And the pandemic has really brought this reality to the forefront.
Hunger is a year-round issue, and we are always working to address this. We are working with our partner agencies to ensure they have the food they need for the expected increased demand and to distribute food as safely and efficiently as possible, including our mobile pantry distributions which will continue through the holidays.
This holiday season will be different for everyone with less travel, smaller family gatherings, and perhaps meals shared over a computer instead of around the dinner table.
Others will experience more significant changes this holiday season as a result of the pandemic. Among the many challenges they are facing this year, for the first time, some households may not be able to create a holiday meal at all.
Despite the turmoil, one tradition that remains constant is the North Texas Food Bank’s commitment to our neighbors experiencing hunger – during the holiday season and beyond.
While this holiday season looks different from others, the community’s continued support allows us to be nimble and evolve regardless of what challenges come next.
