Dr. Dre just lost a long legal battle with an OB/GYN. Back in 2015, the gynecologist Dr. Draion M. Burch filed documents to trademark his name ‘Dr. Drai’ and ‘Doctor Drai OBGYN & Media Personality.’
That’s D-R-A-I, and despite the spelling, the names sound the same. Obviously, Burch is an actual doctor, and he says he’s gone by ‘Drai’ for years…using it for the books he’s written and for public appearances.
Now, the trademark office sided with the doctor…saying that although the musician Dr. Dre is well-known, there isn’t enough evidence that people would confuse him with a gynecologist, or vice-versa.
